- Mark Twain
It took me until after high school, but once I actually found my groove -- or was it a rut? -- the value of books finally occurred to me. These aren't just words to entertain us but thoughts of intelligent people(sometimes) whose ideas often transcend time. If you're going to have a collection of books, you should have a variety of them as well. Anyone who can cite you every passage of the only book they know would be great for a game of Jeopardy if there was a category called, "Cite Random Passages from Books of Your Choosing", but it's a waste of your own grey matter if don't exercise what is already yours. You may have a sense of humour or a train of thought that is not common, but rest assured, someone else out there has already written about something that will appeal to you.
To that end, I will be submitting books, now and then, that have great appeal. These are not Greatest Collections of Garfield nor are they War and Peace; they are, however, an excellent resource of comedy, wit and insight. Good hunting.
