From the top of Grouse Mountain in Vancouver, here we stand approximately 4,100 feet above
sealevel. (for you prairie folk, don't bother to imagine some comparison :) It's a fun ride getting up there (there's SNOW up top in the summer! Haha girly-mountain!)
There is nothing like old-growth to make one feel young. This is the path to the southern
part of Chinese Mountain on Quadra Island (off of Vancouver Island). It was a bit of a hike
but more than worth it for the vertical climbs, losing your way off the path, taking a totally different route and eventually finding the actual path, all for the view...
Yes, well... due to different lighting in each picture, the combination of this panoramic
looks a bit askew. The fact is, this is one view, created by combining two pictures. On the
left hand side, on that peninsula, is where I enjoyed my stay. I heard Bill Gates was on the
island while I was there (I heard this AFTER I left, of course). Too bad I didn't encounter
him; I would have loved to kick his ass at tennis for, oh, $5 billion or so. (sucker bet :)
A group of, I am told, African Daisies, sitting on the balcony of a place on Quadra Island,
some 20,000 kms from Africa.
Four feet away from the flowers was this fine speciman, known as Sweetpea. I could only get
this picture by sneaking up on her, after which she ran like a cat out of hell. Nice contrast, eh?
