While driving down Main street, I saw this thing in the way of the road and, while I swerved into a building, pedestrian, fire hyrdrant, then insurance salesman, I finally found my camera (later confescated as evidence, but not before I got the film! Ha ha!)
This is the closest I got to the Banff Spring Hotel. There is a revine between myself, the camera, and this castle in the middle of all this foliage in the middle of the mountains. Their rooms may cost a fortune and may be about 10 square feet, but the view has got to be at least worth the price of admission.
Scenes like this made coming back to Grand Beach a harsh bite of reality(though the clean, warm water of Grand, the super soft sand and the gorgeous scenery made it all the more palatable). This was a couple of hours after leaving Banff, on the way to Radium Hot Springs (again...you simply must go. You have no option. See you when you get back!).
While my German may be rough, it wasn't the case for the inhabitants of Kimberly, "The Bavarian Capital of the Rockies". This fellow is their mascot. Remember...they drink beer...and lots of it! :)
Imagine driving by a nice, old-fashioned chocolate shoppe. Now imagine a bear waiting for said chocolate.
I have no answers, either.
I think this speaks for itself. Too much of a classic. :) (On the way to Van!)
If you want to email me, I await with bated blinks.
