Pictures of a vacation - 07.17.98 - 07.31.98

I thought it would be great taking a vacation, staying at home and doing very little, being very casual, doing whatever I wanted. Then I realised this could be done anywhere on this planet. Then reality set in and I realised I could drive anywhere I wanted. Westward was a cool-sounding place to visit, thus, westward it was.

It was great! I left at 8pm and, without going into detail (you are now asking yourself if I am able to commit to such an action... I don't think so, either. ;) I bypassed Saskatchewan like a dietician bypasses an icecream parlour and made it to Alberta the morning (for those of you not aware, southern Alberta has the absolute most cool landscape). After 1/2 day, or so, in Alberta, I arrived at a friend's place -- in the country -- for what I thought was going to be a pleasant tea or meal. She and her family were most kind enough to have me stay for a few days, treating me to some sight-seeing and endless fun!

Thus started the role of tourist, taking pictures aplenty!
Tres Relaxing!
This is the sight I saw every morning while I stayed at my host's lodge. The lumpy thing on the left is Bill, the cat. No relation. :) Bill had kitties this summer!

Prince of Wales
This is the Prince of Wales Hotel in the Waterton Lakes National Park. Perfectly gorgeous (though the picture doesn't justify its true appearance). Everyone should go there. You should go there. Now! Have a good trip.

See ya, Tigers!
After much relaxing and after what seemed like a week, but was merely three days, it was time to leave...but NOT before I saw the kids off to hit the links! A ten and 13-year old off to a morning of golf. What ever happened to Nintendo?

Ouch!
I am not making this up. I had no idea such a place existed, nor such a name could exist. This is where Natives used to run bison off a cliff (well... a minorly elevated hill, fun for toboganning down, perhaps), and would kill the wounded buffalo for food, clothing, and such things I'd rather not get into at this moment.

Say cheese
How's this for the world's happiest barn? It's on the way to Calgary from Fort McLeod (I think it's route 2).

Which way is up?
Speaking of Calgary! This is Calgary's city hall from the Calgary Tower (at least, this is what I'm told).
